Indirect Questions

  • What time is it? - Can you tell me what the time is?
  • Where is the bank? Do you know where the bank is?
  • Is the bank open on Saturdays? Can you tell me if the bank is open on Saturdays?

Preguntas con question words (what, who, when...).
  • What is your name? - He asked me what my name was.
  • How many brothers have you got? - She asked me how many brothers I had.
  • When is he coming home? - They asked me when he was coming home.
  • What time is the party? - They asked what time the party was

Ejemplos
  • Could you tell me ...? ¿Podrías/a decirme ...?)
  • I don't know ... ( Yo no sé ...)
  • I can't remember ... No puedo recordar ...)
  • Tell me ... Dime ...)
  • Do you have any idea ... ¿Tienes alguna idea ...?)
  • Please explain ... Por favor explica ...)
  • I'd like to know ... Me gustaría saber ...)
  • I want to know ... Quiero saber ...)
  • "is the shirt" en 1.a."the shirt is" )
  • "is she doing" en 2.a."she is doing" )
  • "does your brother live" en 3.a."your brother lives" )
  • "did you see" en 4.a."you saw" )
El verbo auxiliar do / does / did desaparece en la pregunta indirecta y el verbo principal se utiliza en el tiempo verbal que sea necesario:
  • "does your brother live" en 3.a."your brother lives" )

Yes/No questions.

Se utiliza ask + if ó whether si son yes/no questions.

  • "Do you speak Spanish?" - She asked me if spoke Spanish
  • "Are you happy or sad?" - He asked me whether I was happy or sad
  • "Is he ready?" - They asked if he was ready.
  • "Are they Spanish or English?" - She asked whether they were Spanish or English

Ingles 3 A

Present perfect +yet/already

  • I have seen a good movie this week. (La semana no ha terminado).
  • We have had ham for dinner tonight. (La noche no ha terminado).
  • She has listened to a great song this afternoon.
  • I’ve seen a good movie this week.
  • We’ve had ham for dinner tonight.
  • She’s listened to a great song this afternoon.

ALREADY

Ejemplos
I've already drunk three coffees this morning.
Don't write to John, I've already done it.

También se utiliza para preguntar:

Have you already written to John?
Has she finished her homework already?

I have already been to Tokyo.
I have been to Tokyo already.

YET

EJEMPLOS

Have you met Judy yet?
I haven't visited the Tate Gallery yet
Has he arrived yet?
They haven't eaten yet

Example

 you  (be) to Asia?

She ________________ (not/study) for the exam.
Where __________ he _________ (go)?
We ___________ (not/leave) yet.
I _____________ (want) a new car for a long time.
__________ the bus __________ (arrive) yet?

Present perfect progressive

have / has + been + gerundio

Ejemplos con el present perfect progressive.

I have been living here for one month.
Llevo un mes viviendo aquí.

You have been talking on the phone for half an hour.
Llevas media hora hablando por teléfono.

Formas negativas

have not / has not + been + gerundio

Ejemplos.

I haven’t been eating out much lately.
No he estado comiendo mucho fuera en estos días.

We haven’t been talking since we broke up.

Formas interrogativas

Change the verb into the correct form:

I  (listen) to this for 2 hours.
You  (wait) since this morning.
She  (watch) their dog since Saturday.
We  (talk) for over an hour.
(prepare) for this test for almost 2 weeks.
